Primary PE and Sports Grant

PE and Sports Funding Grant (Primary) 2018-2019

This year we recieved £16930 which we have continued to invest in updating the PE and sports equipment in school. In addition to this we have appointed a full time teaching assistant (TA4) to support teachers to ensure the quality of PE taught within our school rapidly improves. The TA we have appointed holds a variety of coaching badges and is supporting the teachers in their delivery of the PE curriculum.

The increased focus on PE throughout the primary department is already having an positive impact and with baseline data we will be able to show improved progress in PE by the end of the academic year. The school target for progree in PE is for 50% of pupils to be making Good progress with none making less than Requires Improvement. This progress will be monitored y the PE team and moderated externally.

This year the school has invested a significant amount of time into staff training - half a day INSET trianing at the start of the year was followed by twice weekly visits from the head of PE at an outstanding special school to support the teachers with developing high quality teaching and learning in PE, and to act as a mentor for the PE TA as he develops his teaching skills, which will enable the school to ensure the drive for high quality PE lessons contiunes.
